Christmas Haul #1

Oh, Bodie was lucky at Christmas this year!  He got several toys from his auntie.  Since they were gifts with the packaging removed (makes it so much easier for puppies when they open their gifts), I don't know brands.  But here is his progress on random rope toy #1.

Another Good Toy Purchase

I am really happy with the latest toy purchase, the Rooper Rope Toy!  We got the brown dog but it looks like there might be a couple more choices.
Bodie loves chewing on it and he hasn't destroyed it after two days of concentrated effort!  Of course, the eyes and nose didn't survive, and it isn't quite in the shape of a dog anymore, but I am really pleased with the durability of this one.  And it is easy to throw for him, too!

Bodie the Guard Dog

Bodie normally gets to spend some time in the yard each day but it has been way too rainy the past few weeks for him to get much more than potty time.  So, in order to guard the yard, he has taken up position at the window.  He raises the alarm for each squirrel or cat he sees!

Bodie - the Toy Destroyer!

Okay, Bodie's new toys did not last long.  The goDog Puppy Tough Ball Cow did not last through the first weekend.  By Saturday, Bodie had broken all the squeakers.  By Sunday, he had removed both horns and both ears and started destuffing it!  The Kong Snugga Wubba lasted a little longer.  One tentacle is gone and Bodie is working on completely destroying the top ball.

We try hard toys for Bodie but he doesn't like them much and will seldom play with them.  So, of course, they last longer.

New Toys!

As I have mentioned before, Bodie is really tough on his toys.  He loves fleece toys but they usually don't last very long.  One of his favorites is the Kong Snugga Wubba, and it has lasted a bit longer than other brands.  He got a pink one about a year ago.  Well, Bodie has been dismembering it over time.  When it got down to its last tentacle (?), we ordered a replacement.  It arrived yesterday.  I thought I would take a picture of them side by side.  I wonder how long the blue one will last.

We also bought a new brand we have never tried before, goDog.  We chose the goDog Puppy Tough Ball Cow.  With "Chew Guard"!  I am really interested in how long this one lasts.

Surviving the Heat

We have been having an extremely warm and dry summer here in the Pacific Northwest.  In fact, officials recommended that people restrain from setting off fireworks for the 4th of July this year because of the danger of wildfires.  So, we had a lot fewer fireworks set off in the neighborhood and we survived the holiday without Bodie getting freaked out!

With the weather being so warm (we have been reaching temperatures in the 90's this past week when our average for July is normally in the mid 70's), Bodie has been spending almost all day indoors.

This is his favorite position, right in front of the fan and just a little to side.

Bodie Plays Ball

We replace Bodie's toys on a regular basis.  He usually destroys them rather quickly, even the "indestructible" ones.  Bodie hates labels and tags, so toys with a label get special attention.  Many squeakers don't last longer than the first ten minutes.  So, earlier this week we were playing with Bodie's Jolly Bounce-N-Play ball and I realized that he has had this toy for a looong time.  I had to check some of my older blogs and I verified that it has lasted at least two and a half years!  I was shocked!  I think it is his oldest toy.

Bodie's favorite game is tug-of-war.  It doesn't matter what toy it is he always plays tug-of-war, even with a ball.  He will play fetch for about ten seconds and then he turns it into tug-of-war.  If you try and throw it again, he looks at his toy then turns back to you with a look of disgust, and he will refuse to play with that toy again (at least until the next play session).  He finds another toy and keeps shoving it at you to try and get you to play.
