Bodie - the Toy Destroyer!

Okay, Bodie's new toys did not last long.  The goDog Puppy Tough Ball Cow did not last through the first weekend.  By Saturday, Bodie had broken all the squeakers.  By Sunday, he had removed both horns and both ears and started destuffing it!  The Kong Snugga Wubba lasted a little longer.  One tentacle is gone and Bodie is working on completely destroying the top ball.

We try hard toys for Bodie but he doesn't like them much and will seldom play with them.  So, of course, they last longer.

New Toys!

As I have mentioned before, Bodie is really tough on his toys.  He loves fleece toys but they usually don't last very long.  One of his favorites is the Kong Snugga Wubba, and it has lasted a bit longer than other brands.  He got a pink one about a year ago.  Well, Bodie has been dismembering it over time.  When it got down to its last tentacle (?), we ordered a replacement.  It arrived yesterday.  I thought I would take a picture of them side by side.  I wonder how long the blue one will last.

We also bought a new brand we have never tried before, goDog.  We chose the goDog Puppy Tough Ball Cow.  With "Chew Guard"!  I am really interested in how long this one lasts.

German Shepherds are Smart!

New Command

I am constantly amazed at how smart German Shepherds are!  Bodie is learning a new command, one I made up myself: “Come Help Me”.

Let me explain.  Part One: I have a physical condition that is constantly getting worse and it makes walking painful.  Occasionally, my knee completely gives way and I almost fall.  Part Two: we recently started using a harness on Bodie, a Kong harness with a handle.

I noticed that when I took Bodie outside, holding onto his harness really helped me going up and down the steps to the backyard.  I started saying “Help Me” as I went up and down the steps.  Pretty soon, all I had to do was say “Bodie, come help me” and he will come up to my left side so I can hold onto his harness as I walk.  Smart Boy!

Toy Redo - Kong Wobbler

As Bodie is getting older he is becoming more food motivated.  So we thought we would pull out his old toy/treat dispenser.  We had purchased a Kong Wobbler when Bodie was a young puppy.  But it didn't keep his attention for long - he just wasn't interested in dog treats.  So we put the Wobbler away in his old puppy crate (which we use it as his toy box).  He has quite a few toys but only a couple are out at a time.  We pulled out the Wobbler a week ago and put some training treats in it.  He will play with it for a loooong time - knocking it, pawing at it, biting it.  It is funny to watch, especially when he tries to bite it - it is big!  I am glad we just put it away and didn't get rid of it.
